Here is a copy of my daily affirmations that I read at a recent Gratitude dinner.

I have a definite mission and purpose in life. I seek wisdom and knowledge from God through prayer and meditation. I apply this wisdom and knowledge in my plans for success. I apply my faith to my mission and know unquestionably I will achieve my goals.

I practice the virtue of self-discipline. I control my actions, thoughts and words through the development of successful habits. I eliminate wasteful habits to clear the path to success.

I am passionate about my goals and I convert my dreams to reality with unwavering courage. My passion propels me to greater heights of achievement.

I practice the characteristics of leadership every day. I am aware that leaders possess unmistakable courage, are willing to assume responsibility and have an astute sense of justice. I employ these attributes to become the true role model I intend to be.

I am a loving husband. I am certain my true strength lies in the love I give and receive from God and my family. I provide unconditional love to my wife and family with the desire to give them more.

Torticulitis Sucks

Also known as a crick in the neck.  I woke up wrong today and have been plagued by this pain in my neck whenever I turn my head.  I was planning on going to the rock gym today, I guess I will have to pass.  I have always had good results sleeping on a heating pad to get rid of the pain.  I may try to take a nap later on today before my evening meetings to get some relief.

I just woke up with the pain, I must have injured myself yesterday, I did some heavy lifting.  This too shall pass

So this isn’t what I was thinking for my Satuday night but it is what it is.  My family is into the outdoors.  Big Time.  I climb mountains and my parents hike, my dad is unavailable during hunting season.  By unavailable I mean in the hills.  He is 69 years old and built like a tank.  So much so that he doesn’t have many peers that can keep up with him and being retired he has more time than most to spend in the hills.  So he often goes alone, thus the issue.

Saturday a friend, Vern, and I climbed Granite Mountain.  We carried weight and took the climbers trail.  A climbers trail is one that is unmaintained and goes straight up the hill, switchbacks are for sissy’s.  It was a great day.  Then around eight o’clock in the evening my mom calls and informs me that dad hasn’t come home yet.  He left at aroud nine in the morning and went hunting by himself  off FSR 72 passed Greenwater.  He always calls when he is going to be late.  My mom sounded worried so I became worried, I made a few calls and connected again with Vern, he lives in-between Seattle and Greenwater.  We drove out thereto find dad.  it was mom, Vern, Jenn, Gayle, and me.  My dad had left a map of where he was going, smart dad.  So we searched that area and didn’t find his truck until about 1am.  once we found it and he wasn’t sleeping in it we called search and rescue.  Vern and I stayed at the truck in case he came out and the ladies drove back to town to call for help.  Help arrived at 8am, quite timely if you ask me.  3 dogs, 2 atvs, several trucks, and at least 8 people not counting the control station set up at the nearest firestation.  My dad had a fsr (family service radio) and they were able to find him within about an hour.  It took another few hours to actually reach him and bring him out.

I am so glad my dad is ok, my thoughts went to horrible places with worry and doubt.  I felt close to God throughout this whole experience but was unable to pray him to relieve the stress and anxiety.  It seemed like I was supposed to feel what I was supposed to feel.

Crossfit

My friend Pat has been talking about Crossfit for about a year or so now.  I finally checked it out and WOW.  Ok so I have been in pretty good shape, now a little off track, but still.  for the first workout of the day or WOD as the Crossfitter call it, I was supposed to interval the following four exercises 95lbs squat clean, L pull-ups, 95lbs Thruster, and Hand Stand Push Ups.  I was to complete rounds of 21,15, and 9 reps of each.

I was unable to string a complete interval together.  After the warm-up and completing the first set of 95lbs Squat Cleans I was dizzy.  I am not used to Olympic Lifts.  I have been in the past but NOT now.  I rested when I shouldn’t and just focused on form with reduced weight for all of the exercises.  WOW my legs were sore the next day, which lucky for me was a “rest day” according to the plan.

I think I am going to try it out.  I am an extreme person and need extreme outputs in my life.  I have reduced the outdoor activities that I dedicated myself to before I was married.  For the better of course.  I try to keep posting my experiences with the work outs.

This is my personal blog.  If I can maintain a little dilignce I will write about my physical training routines, mental and Christian oriented spiritual growth, and maybe a little about my beautiful wife Jennifer.
